A Little About Iqra – Islamic Qalb Tuition Founder
My name is Iqra, and I am a UK-born, London-based female Quran teacher with over ten years of experience. Before founding Islamic Qalb Tuition, I spent five years learning to teach and reciting the Quran in several masjids across East London, including in Forest Gate and Ilford. I had the privilege of learning from several renowned Quran teachers.
While at the masjid, I learned to teach the Quran to children and was praised for my caring and personalised approach. I took the time to understand each student’s needs, adapting my methods to make learning an engaging and enjoyable experience. I always prioritise quality over quantity, focusing on correct pronunciation and a true understanding of the Quran, not just speed.
I started Islamic Qalb Tuition because I wanted to offer a welcoming and supportive learning environment to adult women, reverts, and children across the United Kingdom. My goal is not just to teach, but to help you develop a lifelong love for reciting the Quran in a confident and beautiful manner. Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping many students recite the Quran correctly and confidently.

It’s natural to have questions or a few worries when starting something new. We’ve heard them all before, and we want to put you completely at ease.
“I’m too old or too busy; it’s too late for me to start.” It is never too late to begin a journey with the Quran. The intention and effort are what matter most to Allah (SWT). We understand the challenges of a busy adult life, and our lessons are designed to fit your schedule. Many adults find immense joy and a profound connection by starting later in life, and they often progress quickly due to their discipline and desire.
“I don’t know the Arabic alphabet.” That’s perfectly fine! All beginners start with the basics. We particularly excel with first-time learners who are taking their initial steps with the Arabic alphabet (Alif, Baa, Taa). No prior knowledge is needed.
“I’m afraid of making mistakes.” Mistakes are a natural and necessary part of the learning process. The focus is on effort and progress, not instant perfection. You can rest assured you’ll be provided with a kind, caring, and nurturing learning environment that will support and gently guide you on your journey.
“My child is very young; will they be able to learn?” Children absorb knowledge remarkably well! With engaging teaching methods, patience, and a nurturing environment, even young children can learn to recognize letters, read short surahs, and begin their Quranic journey with joy and enthusiasm.

What I Teach
My teaching is designed to build a strong foundation for Quran recitation and understanding, starting from the very basics and progressing steadily. Everything is taught in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
- Arabic Alphabet & Qaida: We’ll start with the fundamentals, teaching you to recognize and correctly pronounce each letter, laying the essential groundwork for proper Quran recitation.
- Tajweed: You will learn and apply all the rules for correct Quranic pronunciation and articulation, ensuring your recitation is beautiful and accurate.
- Quran Recitation & Memorisation: We’ll work to develop your fluency and accuracy in reading the Quran and assist you with memorising important Surahs, Kalimas, and Duas.
- Fundamentals of Being a Muslim: For children and revert sisters, we provide an introduction to the five pillars of Islam and other important aspects of faith, providing you with the fundamentals to live successfully as Muslims.
