About Me:
Assalamualaikum, my name is Iqra. I am a London-based female Quran teacher with over ten years of experience in teaching adult women and children how to recite the Quran. Teaching others to recite the Quran has been an ambition of mine ever since I was a teenager and something I have been involved in ever since I graduated university in 2013. After I graduated, I began taking courses on how to teach others to recite the Quran. I studied at some of the most well-known mosques in East London in areas such as Forest Gate and Ilford. I soon began to teach children at the same mosques under the supervision of the teachers who were instructing me.
I was quickly praised for my teaching style, which consisted of taking a caring approach towards my students. This involved taking the time to understand each student’s needs and adapting my style accordingly to each student. This helped them improve how well they learned and provided a much more engaging and enjoyable learning experience. I also put a lot of emphasis on quality over quantity, instead of rushing my students through the Quran. I wanted to take the time to ensure that they were pronouncing correctly, were understanding the intricacies that come with reciting the Quran, and most importantly, were enjoying learning how to recite the Quran. My goal was not just to teach them how to recite the Quran, but to do so in a way where they would make it a consistent habit in their life.
About Islamic Qalb Tuition:
After five years of teaching at the masjid and teaching hundreds of children how to recite the Quran, Alhamdulillah, I started Islamic Qalb Tuition in 2018. I wanted to offer lessons online and expand my teaching reach. While teaching at the masjid, many mothers of the children I was teaching approached me. They were interested in learning how to read the Quran after seeing how much their children had progressed. They wanted someone who was experienced, female, spoke English, and allowed them to learn from their home.
Other parents were interested in online lessons for their children. This allowed children to learn from home, and parents could see in real-time how their children were learning. In some cases, parents could even learn alongside their children. Online lessons also saved valuable time during the weekdays, as parents didn’t have to take their children to the masjid and then collect them.
For children, it’s also a positive. Let’s face it, childhood can be challenging. There are many pressures on them from school, socially, and other areas of their lives. Having these lessons at home allows them to step away from these pressures and focus on reciting the words of Allah (SWT), strengthening their connection with Him.
I think this is another reason why parents like to watch their children learn with me. It provides them with the opportunity to do the same, or some may even choose to take lessons themselves.
Another reason why I started Islamic Qalb Tuition was that I moved away from London for a short period. During this time, I observed that while Islam is the second-largest religion in the United Kingdom, there are still many parts of the country where there is a small Muslim population. These communities may not have easy access to a mosque or qualified teachers to instruct their children in the Quran.
In regions such as the South East, South West, East of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, including areas like Essex, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Kent, Oxfordshire, and Surrey, I wanted to provide Muslim women and children with access to an experienced and friendly teacher who is from the UK, speaks English, and can instill in them a love for reading the Quran while bringing them closer to the Deen.
What I Teach Adult Women and Reverts
I offer one-to-one, group, or on-demand lessons to adult women who are interested in learning or improving how to recite the Quran. Lessons are for all abilities, including beginners, those looking to refresh their knowledge, or those who have reverted to Islam. You can choose what you want to learn from women who teach Qaida, Quran, Tajweed, or help with the memorization of various surahs, kalimas, and duas.
For those who are pressed for time and may not be able to commit to dedicated lessons, I offer on-demand lessons. This is where you send a recording of yourself reciting the Quran. I will then listen to it and provide you with detailed feedback on where you are reciting well, where mistakes are being made, and where you can improve.
What I Teach Children
I provide online lessons to children that allow them to learn how to recite the Quran from the comfort of their own homes. I run lessons every weekday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. In addition to the topics mentioned above (Quran recitation, Tajweed, etc.), I also teach children about the meaning of being a Muslim, its importance, and provide them with the fundamentals of living a successful life as a Muslim.”
